Ways to recycle masonry

Oftentimes, masonry jobs can be costly. Sure, they make the exterior of your house stand out, but what happens when the the brick or stone starts to look worn? One idea would be to replace the masonry job, thus meaning you have to dish out a lot of cash, again. Another idea, one that is more financially conscious, would be to recycle the weathered masonry and use it for other purposes. For example, once you have taken down the old masonry, sort through the materials and pick out bricks that are still in good condition. Brick may me crushed and used for landscaping design or it may be ground up and made into brand-new blocks. Brick is a great way to keep weeds from growing when designing around a flower bed. Old brick and stone may be also be used to build pathways of fire pits in the patio. Another way to use old brick would be to match an exterior that presents itself with the weathered and "historical" look. If you don't have enough old bricks or stone to complete this project, try contacting a local mason to see if they have any readily available. There are endless ways to reuse and recycle masonry, you just have to decide on what type of project you are in the mood to tackle!
